Direct Line wanted to target first-time insurance buyers around Halloween in cinemas and online and so I convinced them the best thing to do would be to actually make a horror movie. “Don’t worry” I said, “I’ve done it before. I’ll call my people”.

“The Torment” was produced by WEP, directed by Alice Lowe, with cinematography by Ryan Eddlestone and music by Toydrum. The campaign was hosted in cinemas screening horror movies during the Halloween period. It speaks to the real life horrors of becoming responsible for your own mistakes as a young driver and homeowner and like all good British horror is as funny as it is terrifying.

The short film was supported by a 60 cinema cutdown and a series of 6-second social stings spots which bring to life other real life horrors from cracked laptops to lost phones and kitchen disasters.
